There are many interesting exhibits at this museum village--far more than I expected! The sawmill was in operation while we visited, and an interested look and a couple of questions got me an invitation to a personalized guided tour right inside of the mill--where only the operator is officially allowed. (This was after the sawing demonstration ended, of course). There were plenty of staff around, including a Abe Lincoln impersonator. Everyone was friendly and helpful.nnThe staff say two hours are required to tour the village, and that may well be the average. But if you slow down long enough to read all the signs, it will take longer.nnMemberships here are honored at the Port of Ludington Maritime Museum too. Members get free admission and access to uncrowded members-only days. Highly recommended.

This is actually a fun place to visit. We found it almost by accident. There are a Number of displays. Several buildings to walk through. Make sure you get the map and kind of follow it around the grounds. Some of the buildings you can see in five minutes or less. Others you’ll want to linger and take a look around.nnIn total, it’s about a mile and a quarter to walk around the entire thing. So, it’s not too difficult to see The entire thing in 3 to 4 hours. You can get to most of the village in a morning or afternoon.nnThere is also a rather odd display in one of the buildings. It is a local sports museum. Most of this centers on local high school athletes. It just seemed kind of odd to us. Nothing wrong with it, just a little bit out of the ordinary.

Easily self guided. There was a reenactment the day we went, which was free. Offers a phone guided map app thing. Cute gift shop. Not expencive.

It was such an amazing show of history! The employees were super friendly, our children and us enjoyed looking into the past!
