For as close to the highway as Straits State Park was, it was actually pretty quiet. I thought it would be a lot louder than what it was. Some of the sites were not that big, but it was ok for us because we didn't have a huge camper. We were close to the water, but not one of the sites that is right on the water. With us being on the lower part, it was rather wet and our site was really muddy. We had to be careful when we were parking our camper so that we didn't get stuck. It was actually hard to get level because it kept sinking in to the ground. The bathrooms looked fairly new. There were only a couple of showers, but they were quite large (larger than most at state parks), and VERY nice. There's not much beach, but there is some that you can walk out on. Nice paved roads to ride your bikes on through the campground. We will definitely camp here again, as long as we have a camper that can fit in to one of the sites easily enough.

Great facilities, easy ferry access, close to a grocery store to supply up. I wouldn't spend a week at this park but it serves a great purpose asa stop-over into the UP.

Super clean. Nice bathrooms. Beautiful lake Huron. Convenient for headlands international dark sky park and mackinac island

Awesome park. Since we have a big rig, we’ve shied away from state parks, expecting them to be too rustic and cramped for our rig. Not so here. This park is spacious and well maintained with paved roads that provide plenty of room to maneuver our 40’ motor home. Since it’s popular, we felt lucky to get a 30-amp, electric only site for 4 nights on short notice, but some sites offer more utilities. There are 2 dump stations, and potable water is available to fill up if you need it. Our site was a grassy, large, level pull through with a gravel parking pad, fire ring, and picnic table. There is no WiFi, but we had good T-mobile signal and used our hotspots. There are lots of trails for walking, 2 viewing platforms with great views of the Mackinac bridge (one ADA accessible), access to the lakefront, and tons of picnic areas. We hope to be able to reserve a site next year for a longer stay.

Great location. Good bathhouses. Clean. Sites are close together and are not paved. Sites for RV 'ș are electric only, but the dump station is easily accessible. There are some nice trails including a dog walk area.
