Chimney Rock Canoe Rental and Campground

THIS PLACE IS A SCAM! It was sold. It used to be awesome. There is a new website that states they are “standing by to take your call”. It also uses all the old pictures once you get past the first page of the website. They have not responded to any e mails. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM! I have called 40 times in the past two days and countless times before then. Not once has someone answered and there’s no voice mail.

We tent camped for two nights and outfitted seven canoes through Chimney Rock and they were great! We had tent sites 3-6 non-electric.nThe sites were right on the river with lots of mature trees.nnOutfitting canoes was easy and they were prompt for pickup and drop off. Thanks for a wonderful trip!

The River and kayaking were great but the service was very unorganized. We were scheduled to leave at 10:30 and they didn’t pick us up until 11:15. Also, there was hardly any room for us in their van. I understand there are a lot people, but I wish it would have been more organized.

My review is for canoe rental only. I would not recommend for canoe rental. Called ahead to ask about availability of renting a canoe. Was driving about an hour down there. They failed to mention to me before I came that one of the bridges is out to get there so had to spend an extra half hour driving to get to another bridge. Also when I got there there wasn't another shuttle to the river for an hour! Never have I experienced this with any canoe rental service. If you are renting canoes or kayaks go to Hruska's. Much better run operation. Drove us right to the river upon arrival, only charged $5 to shuttle my canoe in addition to the one I rented, and the canoe we rented was in good condition. Staff was also very friendly and helpful.

River is gorgeous and this access point is great. Canoe rental service was good except it took way too long to get picked up when you got back. We ended up taking a long walk up to get our truck because we we're tired of waiting after 4 hours on the river with kids. Campgrounds are okay. Pretty area. The top part near playground is family friendly but the lower half closer to the river is more of a party zone. Loud music late at night. Also had our site double booked when we arrived and the sites were not clearly labled so people took more space than they should have had. No gravel pads just a bunch of grass. Ended up wasting a lot of our time when we got there making our own sites in the grass and trying over and over to level our travel trailers. That was very frustrating especially after the number of calls we made planning this weekend out to be camped next to a family member. Also.... The bathroom in the main building was something I will never do again. There is no ceiling which makes you feel like u have no privacy in the warehouse with all other people hanging around. Very weird set up and not family friendly whatsoever. You can see right into shower area from bathroom door when it opens too.
