some the finest BBQ I've had, and being a long haul driver, I've had a few! of course eating on hallowed ground never hurts... 'inconspicuous location may be why it played an integral role as a secret gathering place for protest organizers in the '60s. During the Montgomery Bus Boycott, strategy meetings were held in the restaurant’s back garden, where founder Jereline Bethune also taught African Americans to read and write in order to pass literacy tests at the polls, an obstacle created as a form of voter suppression'
The best chicken I’ve ever eaten in my entire life. It was moist, juicy, flavorful and a huge portion. I love this place so much.
Thank you Brenda’s. My son and I enjoyed the friendly walk up counter, the quick prep of our order, the very reasonable prices and the tasty food. We were visiting from out of town, and this was the highlight of our brief trip to Montgomery. A meal we will never forget. So many friendly neighbors were lined up too, and making polite conversation. This place is a community treasure and it’s a pleasure to support it.
Best pork ribs I've ever had, hands down.The baked beans and fries were also delicious. If you're in town, definitely stop by this place.
I'm no bbq expert but I have enjoyed it throughout my life in many parts of the country. Brenda's was, without a doubt, the best bbq I've ever eaten. The ribs were so moist and fresh tasting. They really seemed to have just come off the grill. The sides were also terrific. The potato salad was delicious with large chunks of very fresh tasting potato. Highly recommended!
