I love this school. My only regret is I did not start sooner. I began taking Tae Kwon Do as a freshman in college. As a kid I always wanted to take karate because of the Karate Kid movies. Who didn’t for that matter? So as a freshman I walked to Grand Master Kang’s Tae Kwon Do for the first time and was amazed at what I saw. There was a class going on and I was intrigued but what I was seeing for the first time. A group of people young and old all doing some sort of drills of techniques I had never seen except in the movies. Everyone was going in unison…Now some of the younger students didn’t have the same technique as some of the people up near the front of the class. I was in awe though…Something I wanted to try since I was a kid and was either in other sports or didn’t have the courage to walk into a place because I felt intimidated. I was greeted shortly after by one of the senior black belts at the time. He spoke briefly about it and informed me they were close to doing some other drill at the time and that Master Perry would be over to talk to me. (He was leading the class still at this time) Long story short he invited me to come to their next class and give it a try. Which I did the following week and I stuck with it all the way through college and even achieved the rank of black belt myself. I joined because I wanted to do what they did in the movies. Tae Kwon Do is so much more than that. While the physical aspects are amazing because you will increase your strength and flexibility it’s the mental aspect that has provided to be the most rewarding through the years. Master Chris Perry has a way of getting to know each of his students and what each student needs to become not only a better student but a better person outside of class. Believe me it carries over into everyday situations as well. Respect for myself and for others is something that I didn’t think would be taught at a martial arts class. These are the little things that carry over to work place, job interviews, as well as the humanity of mankind. I think the worlds needs more people says yes sir and no mam…not to mention holding the doors open for women and elderly. I cannot say enough good things about this school and their instructors and what I have said still doesn’t do it justice. Tae Kwon Do is a way of life and even though I moved away and do not practice physically the mental aspect of Tae Kwon Do is still with me. If you are looking for a good school are looking at reviews please take let my words weigh heavy on your decision. Join for the flashy moves you see in karate movies like I did and I promise you it will make you a better person.
