We have been working on getting the certification for years on our horse. We have called several times to get no answer. We have left messages. Our case was just rejected (response below). We have never heard back from anyone but the last girl we are working with. I hope they hire more people like Sidney Ehret. She should be training people. It has been so frustrating with everything besides Sidney's care and follow up. They have never reached out to us. Doug never got a call or email. They don't actually try.nnMy manager said she would be in touch with you but from what I understand we are not able to reactivate at cost we will have to reactivate for the price that the foal is today. That being said the cost would be $550 and since the foal is over 4 years old now we would also have to DNA test costing an additional $50.nnThis is the answer I received as to why we can’t reactivate at costnn“we reached out to Douglas trying to get the appropriate signatures and didn't receive them until over a year after the file was closed. When it is re-opened, like you said it is ready to go since we now have the stallion owners signature signed off on the BC as well as Douglas's.”
I love quarter horses but i HATE dealing with the AQHA. I have been working with my horse's breeder to fix a mix up for at least 3 months. We have been in regular contact up until a month ago. They had everything thing they needed at the beginning of November and all of October was us checking and learning they needed something new every time. When i last talked to them at the beginning of December they told me they might have my issue resolved in 6 months. I feel like they are going to grade my show prospect and are planning to give me vague far out estimates until they think we will give up.nnThey say it takes a REALLY long time to move files from one location to another and that they have so many people ahead of us it might be 6 months, who knows. I do this sort of thing at work and we can fix issues like this in our database relatively quickly. I could do it in a couple days at work with proper signatures. I also work with numerous stereotypically slow organization like the FDA and even they aren't this insanely slow or vague.nnAnd don't bother linking a canned response on where to go for help. My breeder calls weekly and i have called plenty. I know how to reach y'all, yall just refuse to do anything.
The association itself deserves one star, but the people on the phones are friendly, while trying as hard as they can, with what they are given. Horrible computer system (what is this one, the 2nd or 3rd, that we have paid for as members, that doesn't work correctly, and gives us less bang for our buck?) that can't get out membership cards in a timely manner, and has less records access for paying members. They just took away one of a few free reports, that we paying members get anymore, since they scrubbed our $10 per month free records. Pay more, get less, is the motto of the new AQHA. Not the association that I grew up with, and it is sad, frustrating, and starting to feel like a rip off. I have an excellent new mare, but once she is done, I think I am, as well.
I have been a member of the AQHA for many years. There are times I love it and times they tic me off...but it's horse family. I will always be a member.
Worst experience ever, this place is a joke, I sent papers in OVER A YEAR AGO and not have received them, everytime I call them and ask why, they change the answer, so you took my money over a year ago and never contact me with pending issues so it can get fixed right away? Every time I talk to someone I get different answers. Some say its perfect and can be sent off, never get them, call and they say info is missing.. about to get a lawyer for this joke of a mess
