It was a perfect day for a nice, long walk in the swamp garden this afternoon. All the birds, gators, tortoises, bumble bees, and lizards were out and about, and most of the flowers were still in bloom. This place looks like a well cared for garden with long, shaded walking paths throughout the entire garden. I will definitely go back, preferably later in the afternoon just like today so it's not so warm out.

This place was absolutely gorgeous and worth the extra money. There was plenty of wild life to be seen and a good deal to explore so much so that we didn't get to finish it all after first exploring the main grounds. The main trail forks off about five times so that should give you some idea of it. There were snake, ducks, raddits and alligators all to be seen just to name a few.

The pontoon boat around the property toured the former rice paddies. We saw alligators, eagles, and all types of birds and reptiles. And learned the history of how they farmed rice and why it was so dangerous. Our guide was knowledgeable and relaxed. Really interesting. This, the zoo, and the horses, were my favorite part of Magnolia Plantation.

Great little walk through the swamp. The heron rookery was especially nice. Lots of nests, nest building and even some juveniles.

The walk took us about 45 minutes. Glad it was part of the all inclusive day. Don't think it was anyone's favorite but we saw turtles, a few gators, and birds.
