I love coming here from Wichita. It's a straight 2 hour drive. The mountain bike trails are really fun, and well maintained. There are two roughly 8 mile loops that start here and two more on the west side of the lake, with a connector trail across the dam. Most of the trails I would rate as moderate, with the yellow trail being the most difficult, needing several hop off points with steep descents and rocks, that are meant for more professional riders. I enjoy this side of the lake because there are two disc golf courses and a swim beach. Both courses are well maintained with two tee pads for each hole ProAm style, and a good mix of woods and long open fairways. There is also camping available, although I haven't tried that yet. Only 6 dollars per car per day, totally worth it!

Very nice campground with friendly staff. The campsites are large and clean. The surrounding area is also very beautiful. I especially like that the campsites are directly at the lake so you can fish there. Unfortunately I only caught a few bluegills and a carp. Though this might have been due to the heat during the days I've been there.nIt might also be good if there were showers at this side of the lake and not only at the west side. The bathroom was not always perfectly clean, but it was ok. In general camping at Lake McMurtry was a nice experience and I can recommend it.

Group of us went out to play the two courses in June 2019 and was very impressed with the maintenance of the course. Will definitely be back to play and experience the camping side of it.

We hiked the beautiful Yellow Trail in the east side area. Great trail, easy access at trail head. ud83dude0a
