Carolina Hemlocks Recreation Area

Beautiful quiet little campground with tall trees all around every site, which run a little small, but are perfect for a small tent and a few people. The river makes for perfect white noise to sleep to. Amenities were what you should expect from a mountain campground- if you prepare and bring what you need, it's absolutely perfect. The different hosts were friendly and helpful once they notice that you are setting up, but don't microstalk you and make you uncomfortable.nnIf you read bad reviews about this place- take it with a grain of salt!!nnIf you love the mountains and getting back to a simple way of life with peace and quiet , give this place a shot.

Take it for what you will. The camp sites are misleading for their size. Ours said it was 30' so figured my 19' camper would have no issue. While i was able to actually get it into the spot, this took some time due to how it's set up. So while the entire site is 30', our parking spot was roughly 20'. We have dogs, and yes i know it's a pain when they bark. We were still setting up and our dogs were barking at the same ladies who kept walking closer to them (even though their campsite was on the other side of the road). Needless to say they complained and we were told if our dogs continued to bark, we'd have to leave (this was around 6pm). These same ladies (and the guys they were with) proceeded to drink and be loud to at least midnight (guess they were fine with themselves being loud). Nothing by the camp staff was ever said to them. We packed up and left the next morning instead of staying both days.nThe 1st host was very pleasant and helpful. The other was a grumpy old man. The area is suitable for tents and pop-ups, but would not recommend campers bigger than 14'. Keep in mind you are close to Asheville, so you're not typically going to have pleasant down to earth neighbors.

We make sure we come every year! It is a great camp ground. Hosts were awesome, even gave us there last fire starter. Only down fall, more and more people keep discovering how great the hemlocks are. Thanks for a great time!

Nice quite lil place to go with the family..You can go fishing,swimming,tubing,hiking, all at campground at reasonable price..My only complaint this year, the couple times I went, the host didn't keep the bathrooms clean like they should..

Fantastic place! Kind host/manager. Great hot showers!!! Beautiful location. Plenty of area to get wet. Mostly shaded camp sites.
