Awesome little place for the girls to explore. You can the remains of the old lodge that was built by Vanderbilt way back in the late 1800s. Really cool little place. Good view of the sunset as well. If you climb the stairs to the right of the first parking lot, you will find a wide open eastern lookout and some seats. There's a small open space if grass there as well perfect for a picnic. (Check out our Youtube Channel GRAYBEAR Appalachia for more travel info throughout the Appalachian Mountains.)

There is no lodge now but you can see portions of the foundation that was once George W. Vanderbilt's hunting lodge. This was considered his back yard from the Biltmore House as he owned all this property at the time. Easy walk if you no problem climbing a few stairs. Well maintained trail.
