Jackson County Animal Shelter

We adopted our sweet dog from here.nWhen we went to visit, the staff was rude and unmotivated to be at all helpful.nnThe facility could be very nice, but the dog kennels were nasty, and the dogs were covered in filth.nnI understand the financial and staffing issues every shelter faces. But cleanliness is not a luxury.nnOn the way to our scheduled spaying at the facility, traffic was backed up, so I called ahead to let them know I was running 5 minutes late. Rude staff told me not to bother coming at all if I wasn't going to be on time.nnWe had her spayed on our dime, gladly. Part of me wants to rescue every animal from having to endure that place. The rest of me wants to never give them another penny.

I called 10 minutes prior to closing and completely understand that there is a closing time. I was very interested in two dogs they had and could have been there in 3 minutes. I called at 1:50. The impression I got from the person on the phone was don’t come because we are ready to leave. So the importance and welfare of the dog I would have gotten was not as important as they perceive. So now the dog that could have been in a loving home is now stuck in a cage because they want to go home. I get the work schedule is set but I told them I could be there before closing and she basically made me feel like her priority was going home and not giving the dog a good home. This is my opinion and my opinion only. But the welfare of these animals is worth another 30 minutes of your time.

Very helpful friendly staff. My grandson found his new kitty and he is so happy. Very clean and organized facility.

Anybody interested in animals should check this place out first
