Wonderful school and great teachers. My kids say every year that current teacher is their best teacher. So here we go......
Northfield is overall a very good elementary school The caveat is, that experience will depend a lot on who is principal at the time. During the 5 years my kids spent there, we had a very good principal, and one who was basically the embodiment of Professor Umbridge from Harry Potter. And the latter definitely lessened the quality of experience of life at Northfield.nnThey have since changed principals again, and appear to be on a pretty strong upswing as a result.nnThe strengths of the school do not really depend on the whims of the current regime, however: strong parent community, good teachers, great location (so convenient if you also have kids at Dunloggin Middle School next door) and, recently, an eco-conscious remodel that even includes a roof garden.nnIf you are considering moving to the Northfield district, I would consider NES to be a net plus in the decision-making process. Especially when paired with the excellent Dunloggin Middle School.
