I worked here as a sign language interpreter in 2001. The teacher who I'll called R who's class I worked in bullied me constantly. I also was treated badly by other teachers, staff and the board of education too. I still suffer the effects of trauma. I will give an example the student I worked with (whom I will just call the client) and I were working on flashcards one morning. R asked me to take the client outside for a walk. I did. While walking we ran into another sign language interpreter and had a brief conversation. We returned to an empty classroom and were told the rest of the class went for a walk in another area. We ( me and client) followed but couldn't find them so we returned to the client's next class. Later at lunch me and the client were sitting together R came up to me red faced and yelling at me for taking too long on our morning's walk thus missing walking with the class. The walk she told me to take the client on. She was ranting and red faced in the cafeteria surely making a scene for all to see and to put me in my place. I tried explaining and apoligized but she wasn't satisfied. My only regret was not reporting R's behavior to the principal and board of ed. I really cared for my client but R made it so horrible. As mentioned this is only one example. I could write many others but this is enough to type and read. Don't work there if you are any kind of support staff. My boss I'll call C was unsupportive and back stabbing. A horrible work environment.nClarification; I worked at the Columbia location. They have since moved to Fulton.
