A roadside respite with a waterfront view. No frills and (at least currently) no bathrooms, but there's plenty of room for a picnic blanket or a sandwich on a park bench. The area seemed safe and clean for visitors of all ages. There's also the nicely done Maryland Korean War Memorial on site.
BEAUTIFUL
I live in Baltimore and I run here almost exclusively. It’s an excellent starting point to get a 4 mile out and back run to Fells Point and back or you could go even further into the Inner Harbor. It you want an even longer run you can just keep going and run up and around Federal Hill Park which will not only add distance but give you some elevation. And if you want a really long run you can go all the way to Fort McHenry and back.nPROS:n1> lots of off street parking at the park,n2> super scenic everywhere along the waterfront. Seriously, it’s beautiful.n3> no vehicle traffic all the way until you get past Federal Hill,n4> it’s flat for those that don’t like hills except, of course, for Federal Hill which is a big hill especially if you do 2 loops on it.n5> it is a relatively safe place to run. I have never had any security or safety issues after many years of running there regularly. With that said, it’s the City so take precautions as necessary (carry mace, don’t run alone, stay alert, etc).nCONS:n1> unfortunately the City is terrible about picking up trash and there is often litter especially around overflowing trash cans.n2> Worse than that there is a ton of trash even in the water. In fact, the water is SO dirty and toxic you must take great care not to fall in. Seriously, this water is NOT safe to swim in.n3> Fair warning, when I run at night I often see rats scurrying about. A City reality.n4> As mentioned above, it is very safe however there are a few sections that are not well lighted so bring a flashlight if running at night.n5> pay attention to the running surface! It’s a combination of a few very short sections of cobblestone and much longer sections of concrete, brick, asphalt, wood and even grass if you want. It is surprisingly uneven in spots. Not hard to navigate but it can catch you off guard.nEven with the cons, it’s an awesome run and I still give it 5 stars.
It's a very nice romantic spot for you and your friend spouse or whomever to sit and talk. Very relaxing....
Quiet little waterfront park tucked away from the busy city. A great place to take a jog or have lunch.
