The Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks are awesome. There are so many shops to walk in to purchase everything from hand made soaps to all the different types of sponges from the sea. The Greek restaurants line the streets and are all wonderful. You can also find bakeries filled with pastries and coffee. You can take boat rides and watch a diver go out in an old fashioned dive suit to pick sponges. This is definitely a place to put on your bucket list.

I've always loved Tarpon Springs. This quaint Greek town is nestled around the sponge docks/ marina with basically just 1 main street. Restaurants with Greek and some American food, bakeries, gift and souvenir shops, fishing and by-boat sightseeing tours. Plenty of parking in lots for $5 per day. Very safe area for tourists. The real feel of Greece right here !

My favorite tourist area! I love Clearwater and all that stuff. But at the Sponge Docks you get a real taste of Florida history. Just try to avoid tourist traps like the flashy restaurants. You’ll get much better deals and food at the little tucked away places. And the dolphin cruises are always fun and pretty cheap. I live here and I still go on these cruises for fun

Very friendly atmosphere with lots of great places for grabbing a quick bite during a day of shopping along the pier. There’s some really unique stuff like household decor pieces in the shop, you just have to look for them! If you’re from out of town, remember you can always just ship the piece to yourself at home.nnIf you don’t have transportation, remember you can take a ride share to a UPS Store or some other shipping location, and just send the item to yourself from Tarpon Springs! Most ride share drivers are very helpful if you tell them that you need help getting it from the car to the store.nnEveryone is so friendly in this area, I have a hard time imagining someone denying a person (especially a customer) in need of assistance.n(Pro tip: Drivers will usually wait for you to finish your transaction and be your return driver for the way back, just ask if they’ll wait for you!)nnTarpon Springs was a great place to spend the day!

This was my first time visiting the sponge docks and I think it is amazing!nThe dock has a funny sea smell and is covered in fresh sponges they found. The shop owners are all very informative and gave me an adequate rundown on the benefits of sea sponges. I found a small tea shop that I am in love with. Great experience.
