The ship was nice and clean. The staff were friendly. The have a galley and the prices were not outrageous. From Ft. Myers to the Keys is supposed to take 3.5 (or so) hours depending on the weather. The weather plays a big part in the trip. On the way down it was a little rough which didn't bother me, but there were some people not doing too well. We stayed three nights in the Keys and then took the 6PM back to Ft. Myers. This ride was very rough and they had to hug the coast back which made for a really long ride, almost 4.5 hours. I was fine but once again I was witness to the sickness and it was not pretty. It was a fun idea, but I would not recommend it. It just takes too long and going back in the dark made it feel even longer. Maybe in the summer with more light the ride back wouldn't have felt so long? I would have rather spent the approximate 8 hours that I spent on the ship on the beach instead.
I arrived early to secure a good spot on the ferry. I was made to wait outside in a separate line because the Marco Island ferry had not boarded yet, and the terminal was full.Much to my dismay, the key west express let people that arrived later to board before me even though I, and many others, had been waiting. Poor policy that needs to be figured out. That is why they only get two stars. Ferry otherwise was as expected.
Five hours of fun. Full bar with snacks and tv entertainment. The seats are pretty uncomfortable but the views are amazing. Really great value to get from ft. Myers to key west. Very cool experience. Highly recommend.
We decided to take a day trip to Key West and thought a boat trip would be fun. The trip down was beautiful. I thought the food and drinks were reasonably priced. The trip back was a bit choppy. They do sell Dramamine on board. The crew kept us updated and couldn’t have been nicer. Sure beats driving!
We enjoyed the boat ride to Key West and back to Fort Meyers a few days later. The weather was great. It was a bit hot when we were leaving Key West. They wouldn't allow anyone to sit in the rows and rows of empty chairs inside the air conditioned waiting room on the dock. To board, everyone had to stand in line in the heat. Of course there was an obnoxious drunk playing bad music, loudly. He was singing terribly and cussing. He was saying inappropriate and rude things. He was antagonizing. He insulting us other passengers. He obviously couldn't handle his alcohol. The movie on the TV screens during the trip there was good even though we had to read the captioning. Couldn't hear the sound. The movie and TV show selection could have been better on the way back.
