We had a great time hanging out at beach. Beautiful beach.nWhen we pulled up on our golf cart we easily found parking on that Thursday afternoon.nI suggest wearing water shoes in the water, I cut my foot in knee deep water. Been to beaches all over the world and never cut my foot before.nBring water or soft drinks or your beer as I did not see any vendors anywhere that day.

Smathers beach was gorgeous, and really well maintained. There was a minimal amount of litter, and the beach area was kept immaculately clean for being a tourist area. All other groups were polite and distanced themselves, this was my favorite spot in key west to get into the water. There are sandbars not too far out into the water that you can stand on, making it the perfect spot to stop at during your vacation! Highly recommend if you’re in key west!

One of the prettiest and most enjoyable stretches of beach in the continental USA. Even when it's very hot, there is often a breeze. Unlike the Pacific that can have massive waves in a high wind, the very shallow waters barely stir even in the wind. Miles of long sandy beach or paved roadside to walk. You can people watch or get further away to a more private patch of sand. I love the turquoise water and interesting sea creatures to be seen.
