Plenty of parking at the well marked trailhead. I went to Signal Knob and back via Meneka Peak.nnNice views at the overlooks on the Massanutten Trail, on most of the Meneka Peak Trail and on the upper portion of the Tuscarora trail. There is an unsightly TV tower on Signal Knob itself.nnThe trail is rocky, and some places are very exposed so watch your step and be prepared.nnGood hike for the late fall, winter and early spring when the leaves are down.
Excellent, strenuous hike. My partner and I saw a Scout troop at the overlook, and a lone runner on our descent, and that was it. This was a very isolated hike, which was perfect for our current distancing norms.nnPlan ahead. Pack snacks and plenty of water. We ran through 4 liters of water and nearly ran out. There are plenty of rock scrambles, so be sure of your footing and wear appropriate shoes. As is summer, always be sure to carry sunscreen and bug spray, and always be sure to do a tick check.
Yay! The pine smelling air was so fresh. There were wild blueberry bushes along the path. It was a fun, somewhat challenging hike.
Can’t express the extreme feeling of quietness and plenitude that submerges oneself....
Nice views but rock garden areas on the trail.
