Because it was a very serene place.
A nice little park which honors those who served and died for our country, some of the local veterans do a small ceremony here a few times a year.
The Veterans Memorial Park in Rocky Mount, Virginia is a simple, beautiful dedication the fallen service members who called Franklin County their home. There is a four sided stone statue in the center with each side dedicated to a specific war. Within the stone are carved the names of the service members who died in that war. The statue is surrounded by a walkway and several well maintained flower beds. There are benches located underneath several shade trees that provide comfortable sitting areas. The memorial is located just above the banks of the Pigg River making it a tranquil location to stop and pay respect to the sacrifice made by the men and women of Franklin County.
Lovely little memorial. I'm so glad they built this place. It's lined with engraved bricks with the names of locals who served. There's a central statue / monument and there are metal benches for seating.
The Veterans Memorial Park is a great place to help us be thankful for the men and women who have served or country. The park is always well maintained by a good group of people!
