The road is a one lane gravel well maintain road the road has a few mud spots and a bumps here and there the road is in very good shape. The look out is 100 yards from where you park not long at all. The view from the tower is amazing. Then you hike Jenny falls and about 0.8 miles from where you park is a cabin you can stay the night in if you dare. I will 100% go back LOVE THIS PLACE

My kids love coming here.....Only down fall is the road. I'd love to see the fix it a little better.

An amazing view and very worthwhile but the road up to Birch Knob is not for the weak of heart. It can't be one of many things you do in a day but it must be one of the one or two main events. It takes time to drive the nonstop washboard switchbacks. Once you start driving up the mountain, you are pretty much committed.

While the view from the top is beautiful- the effort it takes to drive there is quite the task. It took us at least 30 minutes to go 5 miles and the road is extremely treacherous. Luckily we were in our truck with all terrain tires but it was still difficult. We also noticed once we got down that a branch had scrapped our truck from front to back. We wouldn’t do it over again if we could. The trees are also growing over at the top so you’re unable to see a 360 degree views. Not worth it!
