You've got a strange steel lattice installation in the building's rear, VERY suspicious

My husband and I came here for our anniversary dinner as well as our last night in Oahu. The service was 5 stars. The building is 5 stars. However the food wasn’t worth it. I am stunned that this place has 5 stars because it’s definitely not a 5 star restaurant. When we walked out, the party behind us said they’re going to McDonald’s.nnThis place has a ton of potential but the taste of the entrees need help as well as flavor.

We went to 53 by the sea to celebrate my wife's 53rd birthday! The service, food and the ambiance that evening was excellent! I want to give Alana our server and her team a deep Mahalo (Thank you) for making it a memorable experience.

Do not waste your time at this restaurant! They would rather lose money than gain business from a well paying customer. My wife and I were looking to celebrate our anniversary at 53 by the Sea. Granted, we hadn’t made reservations but when we showed up, there were so many empty tables and seemed available, but the pretentious hostess said they were fully booked. I decided to call and ask the manager why they were fully booked despite the fact that so many tables were open. He openly admitted that several “reservations” were no shows. I asked him why would he allow himself to lose business to a well paying customer(someone who is willing to throw down upwards of hundreds of dollars for his wife) to reserved customers that will end up being “no shows.” He couldn’t offer a valid explanation. Needless to say, when we return to Hawaii (and we will definitely return), we will never dine at the restaurant.

the building and the views outside where top notch but there's nothing else notable about this place.nnthe hostesses didn't have our table ready three times and had us awkwardly waiting in the lobby for 10 mins even when this reservation was put in over a month ago. another couple that arrived at the same time as us got seated immediately outside so what happened??? they also tried not to give me an outdoor table that I had reserved and only changed it because I spoke up and called them out on it. is this place always so disorganized?nnthe food was mediocre and overpriced for what it was and initial service was severely lacking.
