Kapiʻolani Regional Park

Parking alongside Kapiolani park is free till 10am...I like that!

A very pleasant park, with extremely wide open spaces, walking paths, and park benches at which to enjoy local foods.nnDepending where you are in the park, the views are pretty good.nnIt was entertaining having two chickens creeping by hoping to score some free food from humans.nnParking is very limited, thus being really the only legitimate negative of the park. Signage is not always entirely clear which areas on the side of the road can and cannot be parked on.

Nice wide open park great for running along the outer rim or for playing frisbee, soccer, etc. on the open field. There are exercise gyms at one part of the park, several tennis courts, and ample (paid) parking along one side of the park (there is a free but small parking lot on the other side). If running or biking, just be careful; the sidewalks on the outer rim of the park are all narrow, and on the end facing Diamond Head, is full of cracks and bumps that will trip you up if you are not careful.

Wonderful views of the foliage, ocean, and western slope of Diamondhead Crater. Located near both the zoo on one side and aquarium on the other. My favorite feature is the Iron Man fitness area, which I put to great use since the fitness center at my hotel was undergoing renovations.

Open, beautiful, close to everything.
