The beach across the street from Dillingham Air Field is quite and not very crowded. It is a great place to find sea-glass. It has a steep sand beach that quickly turns to smooth rock. Good swimmers with snorkel gear find this beach great for seeing turtles. Small children should be watch closely due to the slippery rock just beyond the sand and the variance in wave sets.

Excellent high for someone who is looking for something a little more challenging than the regular concrete walk path. Get to the tire swing, and push past for some great fun.

We were able to walk around in nature even during quarantine! We needed fresh air and wide open spaces. Beautiful!

The powered hang gliding company owned by Tom and Denise at this airfield was formally known as Birds of Paradise but they changed their name after all the accidents and fatalities they experienced. Just Google Birds of Paradise Hawaii and you see all the crash articles. I ended up suing them for $450,000 and then they moved to Oahu and changed their company name. There is an extensive accident history for this type of aircraft flying in Hawaii according to Hang Gliding Hawaii’s website. I agree, the consequences are very real and all the stories are true. I may never be able to walk again but I’m fortunate to be alive since most people who crashed didn’t survive. My name is Neil Shoemaker.

Great place, I hope they don't shut ít down, it would be a great loss to the community
