First off DZ Akins has delicious food. On this trip I went to the bakery/deli as I have done in the past. We placed our easy to fill order from both the bakery and the deli - 10 items (lox pieces and bagels - yum) and were told to wait in the store. It took 40 minutes to get our order and then pay. They were busy in the deli but not more than usual so I don't know why it took so long.
Love this place. Largest menu ever seen anywhere. Everything I have ever ordered on my numerous visits has been delicious. The ingredients are good and the portions are very generous. I've never not had a good meal there.
This place is my preferable restaurant. Of all restaurants I know I prefere it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to visit this place. when I I need a good lunch, this place comes straightaway to my mind. Great and many types of food and a rich menu.courteous staff members, and good spirit. Also important, the tariff is decent. I recommend this spot with no hesitation.
Same great food and friendly service, even during pandemics
Arrived today very happy to see they've reopened. Ordered on my way from Carlsbad, for pick up. Unfortunately the corned beef and pastrami was deitz and Watson? Not even the quality of Boars Head for the money, but definitely NOT the quality of DZ Akins. Not what I expected or thought I was getting! Pressed meat, looked almost like the 2 lbs of pastrami, but NO FAT, VERY THIN AND NO TASTE, same for tasteless corned beef! Bummer. Almond chocolate waffle cookies, also changed. The only good that came out of today, was the potato salad. Wait until they reopen! Don't waste your money or time!
