As you can see from the first picture featured on Google Maps, in order to go up to the mausoleum, you must travel up a total of 108 steps. If an individual uses assistive technology to travel, this memorial is unfortunately not accessible for them. It was built in the very early 1900's, therefore, accessibility had not been a major key implemented into the design.nnThe second picture shows the view from the top of the large staircase and in front of the memorial entrance. It overlooks the park and into the distance of Canton, OH. If one looks at the monument from an aerial viewpoint, it was created to resemble William McKinley's sword in a time of war. Very interesting! Overall very cool place to visit and learn about history!
William McKinley, 25th President of The United States, is honored and laid to rest here inside of this memorial.nnThe monument is of epic proportions, challenging and living up to some of the great monuments I've seen in our Nation's capital. It is absolutely incredible to know there is such a gem right here in Ohio, and moreso, Canton.nnThe surrounding area is a tad rough but the park itself that it sits at the end of (and is named after our President), is very clean and well maintained. There is ample parking right at the base of the memorial, also, at the base you'll find The Presidential and science center.nnI would recommend visiting during operation hours as that'll grant you access to inside the tomb to see the actual crypts, as well as the availability to take an elevator to the interior, if the steps are to much. There is an incredible amount of steps that could be proven to much for the physically impaired.nnThis is a great tribute to honor one of The United States greatest sons, that, I would highly recommend for anyone who has a sense of patriotism or simply love for history.
Awesome memorial! The design is cool and the sights at the top are great. Not to mention there is a great museum right next to it! A must visit for families!
Loved the museum and planetarium! What gem for the state of Ohio.
I love coming here to walk or just sit and think sometimes.nIt's a shame they don't have the money to wash the monument, it needs it.
