If there's a better way to enjoy a leisurely lunch than on the deck of a restaurant in a fish camp on a beautiful Summer day, I'm not sure I really want to know. The fish sandwich I had was made with Perch from Black Lake. It was probably the best fried fish sandwich I've ever had. It was served on large slices of soft white bread which looked like they'd be disappointing but were actually fresh, soft and the perfect fish-to-mouth delivery platform. You can also get the sandwich on a kaiser roll. It comes with side options which include cottage cheese -- also the perfect accompaniment. Oh, and our waitress was attentive and genuinely seemed to want us to enjoy our visit. I want to go back and try just about everything else on the menu.

We have visited several times this season to fill up our boat gas tank and/or get lunch, and every time, the gentleman at the counter sends candy bars with us back for the kids after he hears them in the background while we are talking on the gas pump speaker. Cant even express how genuinely caring and top notch that customer service is, and what wonderful human decency this exhibits. Wish more people were like you!!!! We absolutely love the entire place, we have wished to secure a non-lakefront seasonal campsite, as they are sooooo beautiful and safe for kiddos, but they are all taken, but also love the beautiful cabins and color schemes that welcome you from the dock!!!! We highly recommend this wonderful place.

Our family camped here for a beautiful summer weekend. We had a full hook up site that was shaded and provided fantastic views of Black Lake. We had two teenagers with us, and they spent a lot of time fishing. The campground has live bait available for sale right at the docks. The bathrooms and showers were clean and stocked. There is also a restaurant on the grounds called Fish Bones, which we tried and were very pleasantly surprised. The food was really good (especially the fish tacos) and the atmosphere was inviting. We had to wait quite a while for our food, apparently because they offer pick up to take back to your campsite. Overall, we very much enjoyed the camping here, and would consider returning.

Just returned from a trip with 11 friends and felt the need to write a review. Definitely 5 stars. We have been going to McLears for 30+ years the same time in June, which should tell you something. I have a picture of the lake from our cabin deck as a screen saver. Mel and Janet run a top notch facility and are always attentive. If the wind is going to blow hard from a specific direction they will warn you to turn your boat around. Just this year, on the last day, my boat would not start to head to the boat ramp. I could have gotten towed down, but I asked if they could use the tractor to get my trailer in so I could load, of course they said yes, if a boat is broken down they will help you out. Dave did a great job getting my trailer in far enough so we could get the boat on and out in about 10 minutes, Thank you Mel, Janet and Dave and everyone who works so hard to make our stay so nice. Looking forward to heading back up in September.nnTerry Maloney and the crew.
