Totes Goats Yoga

What do you get when you combine a spiritually invigorating and emotionally detoxifying yoga class with the therapeutic antics of several Nigerian Dwarf Goats eager to warm your heart and bring out the best in you...??? You get something called Goat Yoga, the new, brilliant and magical trend in yoga across the country. I admittedly do not engage in a yoga practice, although I do make it a point to connect meditationally with God each day in prayer, so I am not a stranger to the power of meditative practice. I have also been a lover of all creatures great and small and a pet owner (of an array of creatures) since I was a child. I had never, though, up to this point, experienced Goat Yoga. Goats are often underestimated and stereotyped as animals that “eat everything” and are just naughty! Well the naughty part can be true, although in the best way possible. Goats are most akin to dogs when it comes to barnyard creatures and their behavior. They are highly intelligent and sense human energy. They may want to hop on you or just simply lay by your side and rest. They gently nibble at the food you offer them from your hand. In goat yoga, there is truly no judgement, and like our wonderful instructor said this past Sunday, you check your ego at the door. You stretch, breathe, release negative thoughts and limiting beliefs. You interact with these sweet, incredible furry hoofed characters and you honestly start believing everything will be ok. If you think that sounds cliched or corny, you’re entitled to that opinion of course. I have always found meditation, prayer (the most powerful meditation for me) and animals to be life game changers. Goat Yoga is all of these elements wrapped into one experience. Tyler Morella, a Veteran and the owner of these precious animals and Totes Goats Yoga, and his mom and girlfriend all played a special role in the class I attended and they are all such warm, kind people. I can’t wait to do Goat Yoga with Totes Goats again! Thanks so much Tyler and family (two and four- legged!)
