CKO Kickboxing Hanover

I originally gave this location 5 stars, but have had such a bad experience with the manager Chris, that I now feel the need to change that to 1 star. I was injured back in July and needed to freeze my membership (by my orthopedic surgeon) and was told by the owner Al that it would be no problem. After contacting Chris, he told me they would *not* be able to freeze the account until my 1 year membership had been met even with a doctors note. After multiple emails, they finally agreed to freeze my account for the 2 months. Fast forward the 2 months, and I was extremely eager to go back! The instructors here are GREAT, so no discredit to them!! I started to pay my membership fee again, and attended another 2 classes. My knee however, was not holding up well. After speaking with my orthopedic we decided it was best to cancel my membership to avoid further injury. I again, reached out to Chris, who said if I had a note that I could “not do kickboxing for more than 6 months” they would cancel the membership and not apply their $250 cancellation fee. I called my orthopedic, and they wrote a note that I would be unable to attend for the next 6 months. I sent it to Chris and did not hear back. A few days later, I sent a follow up email. Five DAYS later, he responded saying that because the note says “freeze” for 6 months and not that I won’t be able to come back, he can’t cancel my membership. I feel as though I have been given a complete run around with this company. While I do plan on calling my very busy orthopedic surgeon, again, to bother him about rewording this note, I can’t help but feel like CKO East Hanover is giving me an extremely hard time about this. I’m just trying to cancel a kickboxing membership due to an injury, I’m not trying to get out of a mortgage contract. It simply should not be this complicated.

CKO in East Hanover is a great place for a great workout. I purchase their punch cards since i belong to another gym and can attend at my own convenience. Although I like all the teachers, today's class with Karlos was really amazing and my favorite yet, how fast he made the hour go! Thanks CKO and Karlos! See you again!

CKO in East Hanover rocks!!!!! Great staff, excellent instructors super workout and having fun while burning off calories.. I highly recommend this place, bring your friends..

This is a workout and a half. I have been doing kickboxing for over 2 years now and I am in the best shape of my life! Because the workout is so intense, fun, upbeat, unique, constantly changing, and challenging - I find myself reinventing my workout every week! The 1st time I took this class, I was DRIPPING with sweat, like I had never before (and I am an athlete- playing soccer, basketball, and track) but THIS workout made me sweat more then I ever did in my other sports. I loved it so much, and loved the vibe of CKO, that I had to become a trainer. And I am sooo happy to be one! I love our members and our gym, and YOu will too!

I was extremely disappointed with my experience. I purchased a Groupon, but before I was able to redeem it, I was in a car accident, which prevented me from physical activity for an extended amount of time. I called and advised my circumstances and they assured me they would honor the Groupon once I was recovered. Recently, I went in redeem my Groupon and find out if there was anything I needed to know before taking a class. When I walked in, there was a gentleman there and I wasn't even sure he worked there since he just looked at me, no greeting or asking how he could help. Shortly thereafter, I found out he was the manger and he told me they would not honor my Groupon. While I do understand expiration dates, considering my circumstances and the fact that I did call and was assured it would be honored, this was very disappointing. I guess business is just that good...
