You have to at least do an annual pilgrimage to the Baited Hook. Classic clam shack cuisine right on the shore of Mascoma Lake. It's best to sit outside at one of the picnic tables so you can enjoy the view while you eat. Parking can be a bit tricky when it's busy, but it's worth the effort. Update: 27 June 2018 - it looks like the Baited Hook isn't going to open the restaurant this year unless the owner can find someone to lease the property. The ice cream window is open though, weather permitting. It's still fun to get an ice cream and sit by the lake.nUpdate: Summer of 2020 - New owners reopened 'the hook' and life is good again! :-)

Changing my review now that there are new owners.nnQuick service and quick food. I generally get the chicken tenders and sweet potato fries and they are always perfectly fresh and delicious. Good ice cream, too!

I am a vegetarian. I always get the veggie burger... I'm that pain in the egg shoot person that requests a few items be added or taken off. Like add BBQ sauce, pickles and coleslaw (they have wicked good coleslaw) take off tomatoes. Everyone knows tomatoes are gross. Well the other day we called up and placed an order. Picked it up and when we got home I noticed that it had bacon on it. Bacon on a veggie burger ud83eudd28. Crazy right... Well my boyfriend called up and let them know about the layer of dead pig on the veggie goodness. The out of this world customer service we received was mind blowing. So thank you in a big way! We will definitely be coming back.

The Baited Hook was more exceptional than we expected. We met one of the owners While on vacation at a spa treatment. She was a super lovely person (apologies her name slips our minds) Due to the nice conversation with her, we decided to take the short ride from Quechee to try it out. Julie ordered a veggie burger and I had a cheeseburger. DELICIOUS!! The new owners are doing a fantastic job. No doubt we will be visiting again!

Food is great. Ice cream is great. The charm and the effort that is going into the baited hook is the real prize though. Everyone is so friendly and we really enjoy sitting outside on the dock. Thanks so much for creating such a wonderful atmosphere!
