BL: I’m a 54yr old car buyer - the ONLY auto dealer I will ever go to in OMA from now on will be Woodhouse…I will NEVER, EVER under ANY circumstance EVER step foot on a Baxter lot again. Read to the end for the big line of this review – it’s telling. Nothing below is exaggerated-story is so bizarre. In Oct 2109 I decided to purchase a Jeep Wrangler/Rubicon. I googled Jeep dealers, saw 3 Baxter Jeep dealerships in OMA area. The map cut off just below Blair, so I didn’t see Woodhouse, which disappointed me - 2yrs earlier I bought a Mazda from Woodhouse, which was perhaps my best buying experience of the 12 previous vehicle purchases I’ve made over 32yrs. Thinking Baxter was the only Jeep game in town I began the hunt. BUT FIRST: My 2nd car choice was a 2020 4-Runner-so just to see, after appropriate research I went to Corwin Toyota. I provided the salesman a print out of the exact build I wanted. They had 1 vehicle on the lot with everything except 1 major option. He pushed to sell me that car, but I needed that option. They found 1 in Kansas for a dealer trade, but after offering me the on-the-lot vehicle for thousands below MSRP, the sales mgr told me I would have to pay full MSRP for a dealer trade. I called that KS dealer-the Corwin mgr never called them-the Corwin guy lied. He was trying to get me in the vehicle he wanted, not the vehicle I wanted. No 4-Runner. I called LaVista Baxter, made an appointment. After 10 mins of reviewing my Jeep build with the salesman, he excused himself for a moment. 5 mins, then 10, 15, 20-no sign of him. I got up and witnessed him outside in a vehicle showing a lady the functions of her new car! He just LEFT me there! So I walked to my car and left. I called the Baxter on Dodge, spoke to a salesman, said he was free now. En route, the LaVista guy called me and asked if anything was wrong…At the Dodge Jeep dealer we reviewed the Jeep build. My choice was a specific interior/exterior color combination. Could not locate one within 1K miles, would have to order a factory build-8weeks to delivery. Ok. Asked if possible for a loaner during waiting period to reduce the risk of losing the deal if my “trade-in” vehicle got hit in the meantime, he said may be possible, he would talk with mgr who was back in 2 days. Meantime, he offered the Jeep at 10% off MSRP. 2 days later I came back. Salesman disappeared to speak with the mgr, returned literally in 2 mins & said the mgr told him he can’t do the loaner, he can’t do business with me. I was summarily dismissed. The mgr didn’t come speak directly with me, explain, or work to a compromise-NOTHING! Salesman just told me we were done. Never treated like this in my LIFE!! Awful behavior! At least the Corwin mgr lied to my face. A 54yr old easily able to buy top of the line Jeep was just allowed to leave. In disbelief I called & visited Bellevue Baxter. They too would have to order vehicle, but explained the legal limitations of why they could not do a loaner for 2 months. Made sense. They evaluated (fairly) my trade in, then showed me a Jeep invoice and stated they buy the Jeep 3K below MSRP, so they could only sell a Jeep for 2K below MSRP (3% off vs 10%)-could go NO lower. How did the Dodge dealer offer 10? (I wonder if Dodge Baxter realized mistake, let me go to save face?) After a few days I ordered the vehicle ($500 deposit) but felt unsettled-Lots of doubts/suspicions. 4 weeks later, after 2.5 months of Baxter take-it-or-leave-it, I discovered Woodhouse Jeep in Blair. 30 Dec I called, drove 40 minutes and visited w/Austin K. Answered the hard questions and in UNDER ONE HOUR Austin offered a deal to sell me the SAME build for 2K LESS than Bellevue Baxter, paying nearly same amount for trade in. He did in 1-HOUR what 1 Corwin+3 Baxter lots could not do in 2.5 months! I canceled previous order-$500 returned, and re-ordered with Woodhouse. 11 Feb-beautiful vehicle received. AWESOME Woodhouse experience. Completely different culture/treatment there.
