The Albert Lea KOA is one of the best campsites we've ever had, although we were only there for two nights, we wish it could have been more. The staff were friendly, the grounds were well maintained and the sites were large. If ever we pass that way again, my wife and I will definitely stay there. The whole experience was first class!!!
I'm so thankful this was only an overnight stay!! The pool looked like it hadn't been used in a very long time.. yes COVID was going on at the time. We asked if it was shut down because of covid.. yes they said.nnThe pool looked like it would've been a gorgeous oasis... if it was up and running! Very deep long pool!! I so hope they bring it to life again. It would really help improve reviews and customer satisfaction! What an incredible amenity they have if they can keep it up in the future.nnThe playground was a dirty plastic little tykes type structure, some swings and a small cute picnic table.nnThe construction zone threw us off. We were directed 20 minutes out of the way. I wish the office would have told us about which exit to take when we called 4 hours prior to arriving!!nnThe bathrooms were locked. I had to go ask for code. They didn't say anything at check in about them. If I were to come in after hours that would have been horrible!nThey did give me a code after I asked. They were usable. Mold in showers but usable. No dirt.. clean in that way but lots of mold.nLooks like mens bathroom was updated fullynnI didn't even bother with wifi. The previous reviews said not good. I wasn't going to waste my time going into car to retrieve paperwork. I just used great cell phone data.nnHere's the good news...nThe shower! Yes, very very dated. Yes, very rundown. BUT the shower head was updated and AMAZING! The water pressure was great in shower!! I loved how many shelves were available in shower stall! That was the best part.nnNice tall shade trees in rv spots.nnBeautiful wildflowers.nnLots of space between rv spots.nnGreat showers if you missed that part!
Had a good visit to this KOA. Easy access, nice level sites. Next to highway but we didn't have an issue with it. Picnic tables and fire rings were available. Easy access to the stump station. Wifi was decent too. Staff friendly and helpful.
The people were very nice but you can tell the place is run down I mean REALLY run down. Stayed in a tent campsite and it was even really hard to tell exactly where the site was as they used cinder blocks to mark each site. The showers and bathrooms were older and definetely need to be updated. They did have a pool but it was closed and this was one of the hottest weekends of the summer. Probably will never stop at this KOA again.
Exit to campground was closed causing us to drive an extra 30 minutes after already driving 9 hours from Custer, SD. I did have a missed call at 2pm, but I do not use my phone while driving. They could have called us or emailed us the day before.nnAlso, water pressure was about 20-30 psi in camper (low), and the showers in the public bathroom also had very little water pressure.nnDid not bother to fill pool up this year. Grass was not cut, probably 5 inches long. Our friend stepped in dog poop that could not be seen due to long grass.nnNothing around here to do besides a Spam factory. I would avoid Minnesota entirely if possible, we had a similar bad experience at the NW Minneapolis KOA on our way out west.
