After shopping here for several years, I have seen a dramatic decline in service. This past week I was drawn to a Frank Lyman outfit. While my husband settled outdoors expecting me to take my usual time with decisions like these, I entered the shop which is always stocked with great choices. There were two sales women in the shop, one behind the counter. Neither one welcomed me or even acknowledged my presence.nI was surprised to see no other customers in the shop at midday in August. I found the Lyman section and was admiring his outfits, deciding which to try on. After quite some time I still got no offer of help. Eventually I left the store. Still no “hello, thank you, any questions”etc. and no other shoppers either. I had no trouble finding and purchasing the Lyman outfit in another store closer to home. After the numerous shopping delights there with my mom, my sister, my daughter and girlfriends, it saddened me to see an end of an era. Most places in New Buffalo (like Timothy’s or The Terrace Room at Harbor Grand) have “stepped up” to meet the demands of the current visitors market. Not so with The Whittaker House. Disappointing.
This mother-daughter team stocked the store full of gorgeous items with something for everyone! I drive from Chicago to see what’s new!
