This is a total go to especially for a date night. Mama’s has rustic Italian dishes with a modern edge but has the most cozy environment.nnTable seating is wonderful, but the bar is nice and social and the local vibe is wonderful.nnThe owner Eric is a wonderful representation of Bar Harbor’s business community and how that community, as a whole, tries to make the town a welcoming place for locals and visitors alike.

The place was very stark and not very clean. That should have been our first clue. Drinks came right away, and then again and a third time. The waiter assured us that our meal would be coming soon. After more than an hour our meal came. My sirloin and ceasar was an appx 10 oz. steak cut in half and not medium rare but well done+. The salad was warm, limp and not edible. My wife's Italian dish was not much better. All of this for way more $$$ than it was worth. This is the 1st review that I've ever written. Some said that this restuarant was wonderful. I'm wondering if we went to the same place??? In my opinion STAY AWAY from Mama D's!

We had a really nice dinner here! The service was great, atmosphere lovely and food well prepared and delicious. Nancy helped us with our reservation and was friendly and responsive. Our waiter Cal was a delight. Our drinks were top quality and served in a timely manner. Salad was fresh, chilled and crisp. Cal recommended the scallops with vodka sauce which did not disappoint. I had the baked haddock with brussels sprouts; both prepared beautifully. Portions were ample. I would highly recommend and would definitely return. Thank you Mama Dimatteo’s for a lovely dining experience in Bar Harbor!

We were on our way to a different location for dinner, but passed this on our way. The menu drew us in and didn't disappoint. The mussels were some of the best I've ever had. Main course of Scallops in vodka sauce and lobster mac and cheese were outstanding. This was the Maine dinner experience we were looking for.

This is definitely a place you can skip. We ordered a salad, an entree, an appetizer, and a glass of wine and the bill came out to $100. I don't mind paying more money for really good food, but what we got was lackluster and uninspired. It tasted okay, but it wasn't much better than what you would get at a Carraba's for half that price. The interior feels dirty and dated, and the light fixtures were filled with dust and dead bugs. The servers shouted across the dining room at each other on several occasions, and more than once someone interrupted our server with something inconsequential while she was talking with us. However, the staff was pleasant when interacting with us directly, and it wasn't the most that I've overpaid for mediocre food as a tourist.
