Nice pond for skating and walking around in the warmer months. Could use some better marked parking areas. But there is a warning sign for pedestrians crossing on the north end and that is where one parks for skating. On the south side the signage is lacking also, just before the pond appears there is a right turn up a small hill with a few spots. You’ll miss it the first time.
Sorry for the trail map box condition, Susie! I am a volunteer for the Sanctuary and things do get very busy in the summer. The box has been cleaned out and we are having some new trail maps printed. Thanks for mentioning. There are public walks at the Sanctuary most Thursday mornings if you want to give it a second visit.
I finally went to this sanctuary after reading good reviews and I must say I was disappointed. Instead of trail maps which would have been useful there were only moldy, musty, crumpled donation envelopes in the trail head box. The pond is beautiful but considering the many beautiful places to walk/hike in the area this doesn't get a second visit from me.
