My daughters have been attending Fit learning on and off for about a year and a half now. They are on their third enrollment and the progress I have seen in my children has been amazing. My oldest began at the beginning of Kindergarten to work on some unproductive school behaviors, reading, focus, and auditory comprehension (areas of struggle we learned in past neuropsychological testing and confirmed in the Fit assessment). My first grader is now above grade level in all areas. She is reading at a mid- second grade level and spelling and reading 100 out of the 103 sight words they expect her to be able to identify by the end of the school year (we are only 2 months into the academic year). My youngest daughter was so jealous that her older sister was doing Fit that we enrolled her as well. She is 4 years old and already beginning to sound out and journal words like “cat.” Her focus is amazing and she really loves learning. Both of my daughters love the rewards program there and my oldest daughter is learning the concept of saving up for a larger prize.nThere are so many reasons why I love Fit. 1.) We value education and hard work and I love that Fit teaches these values without electronics which are all too prevalent in my opinion these days. Research supports that even moderate screen time is just not in the best interest of our children – yet they are in our schools in Kindergarten already. We limit screen time in our family and it was important to me that an academic program not use electronics as an education tool. 2.) I love that Fit teaches fluency to ensure our kids not only know the material, but know it quickly. 3.) Fit’s academic progress is measurable! I wanted the academic progress our girls were making to be measurable. Fit’s program is not only measureable, but follows standardized testing. 4.) I love that Fit has a unique ability to make progress with children with special needs. There are far too many neurological and behavioral disorders in America and it is great that Fit’s programming is able to help these students to have academic success. 5.) Lastly, but perhaps most importantly, I love that my children love going to Fit.nThe most challenging and perhaps daunting part about the program is getting them there 4 times a week. Initially, I struggled with that commitment, but I also would walk through fire to remove barriers for my children and bring them resources that will make their lives better and bridge gaps. I told myself it is 3 months. You can do anything for 3 months! Here I am a year and a half later enrolling my girls for enrichment purposes and we are still prioritizing this every week. I know it is hard to think about putting soccer on hold for 3 months, but for me I decided that my kid was likely never going to play professional soccer, but she would certainly continue going to school every day and keep struggling. It made my choice on what to prioritize clear. I considered private tutoring one or two times a week but ruled this out because this would prolong her attention and academic struggles for years versus bridging a gap in 3 short months. We couldn’t be happier with Fit (except for maybe if they had a slightly closer location to our 203 school district) and I would encourage you to explore what they have to offer for your kid. Dr. Aditi and her team are great and we are so grateful for all they have done and continue to do for our daughters.
