Maybe they will scam you and you should always get a lien waver.nnAfter purchasing a new home, we hired a contractor to resurface our floors and (unknown to us) he subcontracted to JK at roughly half the price. We paid our contractor and a few weeks later, without warning JK shows up unannounced, entering into our garage letting us know they weren’t paid. In additional to making us feel unsafe, this didn’t feel like our problem since we paid more than twice what they wanted for the work. Turns out the contractor didn’t pay them promptly so they put a lien on our property. This caused anguish for my wife and I since we always pay everything on time.nnI learned that we should have gotten a lien waver from the contractor we hired to prevent this situation. A few weeks later JK was paid but they never removed the lien from our property. Ultimately the lien will disappear but it’s unprofessional and I am still very upset over the ordeal. Hire someone with more integrity.
