Ole West Bean & Burger-Athens

Wow! That is great! I was driving through town and need a place to eat. I decided to google best local restaurants in Athens. After reading the reviews I was torn as to what menu items I would partake of. I selected the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and onion rings. I was not disappointed!nAfter nearly stuffing myself with the fresh salad bar and a small bowl of beans I was presented with a plate size crispy chicken fried steak and three large golden onion rings to go with my mashed potatoes. I started with the onion rings as they were almost unbelievably crisp and flaky. The texture was amazing and the taste was fantastic. The chicken-fried steak is one of the best I've ever eaten and certainly deserve to be ranked in the top 5 chicken fried steaks in Texas. I was so full that I had to pass on the last 1/4 of my mashed potatoes as I needed to have a little room left for the self serve BlueBell ice cream. The staff was warm and friendly. Highly recommended!

After almost 1 hour after placing our order and never receiving our food or an update from our waitress about our order. We were charged $17.95 for the salad bar. We will NEVER return. If you expect your food at a reasonable time, I suggest you try some place else. I AM AMAZED AT HOW QUICKLY YOU REPONDED. YOUR RESPONSE CAME QUICKER THEN OUR FOOD. WE WERE ONLY INFORMED YOU WERE SHORT HAND, AFTER WE DECIDED TO LEAVE. NOT ONCE DID OUR WAITRESS COME BY OUR TABLE TO TELL US WHAT WAS GOING ON. IN FACT OUR WAITRESS ONLY TALKED TO US 3 TIMES. ONCE TO TAKE OUR DRINK ORDER, THEN TO BRING OUR DRINKS, THEN TO TAKE OUR ORDER. SHE NEVER CAME BACK TO EVEN OFFER TO REFILL OUR DRINKS. ONE OF THE WORST EXPERIENCES AT A RESTAURANT EVER. WE WILL.NEVER ATTEMPT TO EAT THERE AGAIN.

MUST GO!!! This was the best home cooking I’ve had in years!!! I had the catfish and it was cooked perfectly. The fries were great and the mashed potatoes with brown gravy was amazing. DELICIOUS FOOD!!! Service was great too!

This was the worst experience I've ever had. Went in for lunch and after being seated a waitress took our drink order, another lady brought the drinks. The Lady then without being asked started telling about having been beaten, jumped by 2 females, being accused of stealing a car talking and acting under the influence of something. Another lady eventually came to take our order, while sitting there all you can here is the lady whom brought our drinks going to several tables telling other patrons lousy this story of being jumped. As time went by the same girl kept coming to our table and area we were sitting talking non sense and without us ever trying to interact with her. Our waitress came cleaning tables in our area so we asked who the lady was and if she worked there, the waitress said she didn't work there the lady was the owners daughter. We inquired in the lady was on drugs or what may be wrong with her. The Lady then returns to our area talking nonsense to us and sits at the table across from us and continues with talking aloud to us, then gets up and leans down at our table stating she's getting mean several times, stands up then walks away. We then decided we would like our food to go try to get the waitresses attention unsuccessfully so my sister went up front to ask a lady who was the owner if we could have our order to go. At which time the owner started telling all the problems they were having with 1 cook, short staffed blah blah blah. After returning to the table the owner then rudely came to our area and asked if we had a problem at which I responded apparently yes ma'am with your daughter. We were rudely told to leave at which time she was making inappropriate statements and I responded. Again we were told to just leave. More words without cursing were exchanged and we left. I would not recommend this restraint to anyone if you want to enjoy a meal, or your surroundings. Worst experience EVER!!! Wouldnt even give a star but have to to post review

Great food at very reasonable prices. The vast menu let's even the pickiest/diet restricted eater have several things to choose from. Staff is always friendly and service is quick.
