The current rating of this place is impressive. I assume it’s somewhere between “you don’t know what you don’t know”, and Stockholm syndrome.nnThe food is categorically not worth $14. Even if you ate 4-6 plates, which by the looks, many do. Hungry Jack mashed potatoes, Hamburger Helper pasta (casserole as known around these parts), white gravy that is 90% bleached flour, chicken fried mystery meat, and grey colored mystery pot roast. The Oreo dessert was 98% Cool Whip.nnMost do not have a reason to be in Windom TX, and I advise anyone to keep driving to find food that won’t cause early onset metabolic syndrome or diarrhea. Most of the clientele are old. Unless you’ve already given up, don’t eat here.nnSoft serve ice cream or the cobbler is a solid bet. If you can’t make it to a Jason’s Deli, it’s the only recommended items.

The catfish and other fried foods were good. I would go back just for the frog legs. They were the best I've had. Atmosphere and hospitality were on point. Boiled shrimp definitely needs attention. Either overcooked or old. Definitely wasn't eatable and I'm not a picky eater. Salad bar was excellent. Overall a decent experience.

The Windom Feed Sack is an excellent dining choice for your trek through scenic and nostalgic Northeast Texas. We’ve found that folks from all over the area come here regularly to enjoy a delicious family meal “just like grandma used to make”, as we’ve remarked.nnThe food is old-fashioned, home-cooking; delicious and on-point. The menu is well-appointed with bbq ribs, fried catfish, chicken-fried steak, peel-and-eat shrimp, and much more. Your favorite side dishes are waiting right on the line for you.nnThe dessert offerings include delectable soft-serve ice cream, peach or mixed-berry cobbler, a variety of cookies, and on and on.nnAntiques and memories decorate the newly-renovated interior of this well-aged town square building that pays respect to its history. The building itself sits catty-corner across the street from the historical municipal bank building, which is also of interest to see.nnIt is important to note that this wonderful gem of a restaurant was clean, sanitary, and food-safe. These folks obviously take pride in their establishment.nnFinally, the owners and employees were so incredibly friendly to us! It absolutely felt as if we stepped into our own “Town of Mayberry”, and everyone was a friend.nnWe will be back through, even if only to stop here again. Thank you, Windom Feed Sack!

We have gone to the Feed Sack many times and have never been disappointed. Three of us went there for Thanksgiving dinner and it was a wonderful dinner. The price was fantastic also. We had two seniors and one adult. My nephew was treating and for the three of us to eat a buffet it cost less than $46. Like I said. It was a wonderful dinner.

For the best home cooking in North Texas you need to travel to Windom Texas and look up the Windom Feed Sack. We drove an hour Sunday for their fabulous buffet. It was full of salads, beans & cornbread, roast, ham, fried fish, meatloaf and mouth watering mashed potatoes and gravy. And to top off the meal they have home made cookies, peach cobbler and ice cream. The service was great. We will make that trip again.
