Ammons Branch Campground

This is such a lovely primitive campground close to the Highlands. The 4 sites had raised tent pads. I wouldnt recommend big RVs. Our truck camper was as big as should be brought or a smaller camper van. The vaulted toilet was clean ans well stocked. The small mountain stream running next to it was perfect for a refreshing morning wash up. In the morning sun the sand sparkles with fine mica and quartz crystals . Truly magical.

Ammons is beautiful place to car camp. It has a sign to mark it at the entrance. It has an outhouse (hole of poop) style toilets and bear proof trash cans. There 4 sights somewhat close ish together. The river water is clean.

Great free camping near Whiteside Mountain.

Pretty secluded which is it's best feature. Not a bad spot to stay but I did find nicer spots nearby along forest roads

It's away from the hustle and bustle. And it's my style of camping.
