You couldn’t ask for a better school. Every administrator and teacher here makes an amazing amount of sacrifice to make this school a success. The students (and parents) unfortunately are sometimes another story. Many kids suffer from being spoiled, lazy and lack the motivation to take responsibility. Here is no different, except that the responsibility is greater regardless of how the students act. If you want to prepare your children for what could be in the future a very large cultural change, this is the place to do it. If you want your children to have the health benefits of being multilingual which have been shown in many scientific papers, this is the place to do it.

I have two students here, now in 2nd and K Chinese immersion. The teachers have been caring and have shifted well to virtual learning during the pandemic. I have been very impressed by the Mandarin acquisition of my two children. I had a moment when my older child was in 1st grade where I worried that she was behind in reading in English, since BIA does not have English instruction until 2nd grade (this was well-explained during all tours and information sessions), but now her reading is at the level of her peers at standard-English-curriculum schools. I have been frustrated with the (lack of) PTO, but hopefully this will improve post-pandemic.

I hate writing bad reviews but they should be ashamed of themselves

My son started kindergarten at BIA earlier this month in the Mandarin Chinese Immersion track. I am quite pleased with his teacher and how quickly he is picking up the language. It's exciting to see his growth and the investment of the staff.

I have to agree that the opportunity to learn a new language and become fluent in it by any early age is such a great accomplishment for kids. The school has pros and cons as all schools do. However the current leadership of Principal Lokounia’s and her lack of response to the unsafe environment that our kids are being exposed to in this school are very concerning to me as a parent. I know that kids are being bullied throughout the school, across grade levels and regardless of race, ethnicity, and gender. Please do not allow this administration to push our kid’s safety and parent’s concerns under a rug and forget about it.
