UPDATE: After posting this review the branch manager reached out to me, and was very helpful and understanding. She apologized to me on behalf of her staff and asked me what she could do to help rectify the situations below. She was very professional and gave me the customer service that I have been used to receiving (and have had in the past) at this branch. It was an absolute joy to be reminded of how wonderful this bank can be.nn* * *nThree years ago they were efficient with good customer service, but when I recently went in to open a joint account with my boyfriend we ran into problem after problem.nnFirst it was agonizingly slow. A woman was being trained so this was forgiven. However when entering our phone and email numbers she had switched it so that the security code text when my boyfriend tried to log into the online account went to my phone instead of his. They deleted our online account and we couldn’t resign up at the branch. I still cannot log into my online account - and the security code phone number associated with my username is now an unknown number. The last 4 digits it gives me to ask if it’s correct are ones that have never been associated with me or my boyfriend. If this sounds ridiculous, it’s because it is.nnWe then tried to transfer money into our other accounts (Wells Fargo, the next day) and were then told this was impossible because our account was too new. Reasonable, but this information should have been provided to us when we opened the account. We were there for long enough the day before. When asked to speak with the manager we were told that she wasn’t in and that she may or may not be in the next day. We also cannot easily transfer money to external accounts, which also should have been explained in the three + hours it took to open the joint account. Then we were given debit cards but no instructions on how to change our pin.nnWe were obviously frustrated but when asked why all this had happened we were given excuses. The teller took no responsibility on herself, simply protesting that she’d been training a lot of new people. If this is the person training others, then be wary of the service you’re going to receive.nnIt was a horrible experience and I have yet to have a pleasant one this year. It’s a shame that it has gone so downhill from previous years. The money market account has nice interest but that’s honestly the nicest thing I can say about this branch. There are other minor inconveniences that I’ll forgive them for since they’re a small bank, but this branch in particular has just created headache after headache. I recommend you go elsewhere.

These guys have great customer service which I got from the manager and her assistant. But, signed up for a checking account on a Friday when they said I would get a 10 dollar amazon gift card with in 10 business days. It’s been almost a month now. Never recieved anything.

East Boston savings bank has poor security system. At the 1952 Beacon street bank, Brighton ATM, you could see some strangers sleeping inside the ATM every night. This makes the ATM inaccessible. It would be highly appreciable if they let customers use the ATM rather than some random people sleeping in it.

You would have probably eaten at Jade Monkey a little more often if they told you it was going to be replaced with another bank :(
