This is an edited and updated review from over one year ago...today is 11/22/2020, I was very disappointed that the campground was closed. I have made this a stop over the years during my travels and love it. I have no idea what the status is on remaining closed or any plans for reopening in the future. It may be best to call the Forest Service for updates... original stated- small and quiet campground. The electric sites are often full. The primitive sites are fairly private. There is an historic battlefield nearby as well as a museum.

Even though it's closed and we are hosting the place is nice. Hopefully the campground will open soon.

Came here to camp, looked at the website, everything looked good. Got here late at night and everything was closed. Would be nice if that was posted ANYWHERE on the website so we didnt waste time and gas.

Unfortunately, we drove all the way there to camp and there were no spots left. It is first come first serve and they told us that. However, three different spots were blocked of with a cone and tape??? Hopefully that means someone did not reserve?? Seems like a nice place to camp but not worth driving there only to turn around and drive home..

We have camped here for years. Most campers are friendly and allow people to access the lake from their sites, especially where there used to be public access. We found out that if you wish to use the lake and you pay the same $30 as everyone else in the electric sites but aren’t exactly on the lake, then you have to go to the beach, the boat ramp, or leave and drive down to a different area to use the lake. If you want to fish, well, there is no fishing at the beach. So, no reservations, and no lake access for 80% of the sites...... we won’t be back .
