Nice platform with excellent 360 degree views across the prairie. Built in benches and small food prep table (2'x2') but no picnic bench. Toilet clean but if the wind is from the east or north east you will know! Resident partially blind alligator hangs around but is not a nuisance (but do not feed). More likely for a breeze to keep the mosquitoes down than at other sites.
Very isolated and comfortable. The trail coming in from either side is a little difficult. Would advise bringing a push pole if you plan to go to this shelter. There is a gator that people have been feeding in the area.
Beautiful. Serine. Great place to make camp.
Good paddle, lots of flowers & wildlife. No table on this platform.
