Came here to watch a meteor shower this fall and it was just amazing! Incredible how dark and clear the night sky was here. The amount of stars you can see in the meadow at night is beautiful! Great place to camp as well. Been coming up here to camp since I was in middle school. Lot of memories here. ❤ufe0f⭐ufe0fud83cudf1c✨ud83dudcab

We drove up Meadows Ln this past week to the Meadows Lane Crabtree Falls Parking Area to hike Spy Rock. I drove in an old 2WD Toyota Tundra and had no issues. On previous trip (6 years ago) I drove up in a Honda Odyssey and saw other small cars in the dirt lot. The road has degraded over time, 4WD is not necessary, just good ground clearance. The road is very narrow, so watch for other cars on the blind curves. Here is a recent photo of the second stream crossing, but there are other spots closer to the parking lot with more rocky terrain requiring higher clearance. The meadow has become overgrown, not sure of the quality of campsites like there was back in 2014. There is a nice and indestructible privy at the parking area, but it was locked, so while COVID-19 is still an issue, don't count on being able to relieve yourself. Some nice hikers left their trash (lots of it) at the door of the privy. There is no running water, but a nearby stream will provide a good water source. Please be clean and treat the area, trails and facilities with respect.

Nice hike. Beautiful waterfall. Leaves are amazing in the fall

This is a clearance issue not necessarily a traction issue. The two streams you cross at .5 and 1.2 miles are the most difficult part of the road. I drive the road all the time with a 2WD pickup (no problem). The last 0.1 miles is steep and can get muddy so sometime I park just prior to this area in the camping pull outs and hike 5 minutes down to the parking area in my 2WD. Not recommended for low clearance vehicles (like a sports car). Not recommended for any vehicle if it’s icy or forecasted to snow! From this parking area you can hike down to the top of Crabtree falls (about a mile mostly level) or you continue hiking up the road past the parking area 0.5 miles to a saddle where the AT trail crosses (left is north, right is south). ****18 Sep2020*****the bathroom at the parking area is locked closed! ****08 Apr2021*** the parking area gets crowded on the weekend because the Fish Hatchery parking area and trail to the AT is closed, the Forest Service is now directing people to this area in order to hike to Spy Rock. If the parking area is full, please don’t block the road! There are plenty of pull outs when you can park....

It served it's purpose. Bathrooms are closed (Covid). Long rough one lane road that is very busy with 2 way traffic.
