Delicious food, friendly service.
I visit this marvelous place many times because I enjoy the good air that is unique to this place. The team is extremely loving and professional. The service is extraordinarily efficient. Not to mention, the food they prepare is outstanding. I have been there often and I was always happy. The price is reasobable. I highly suggest this place to my friends and family.
I love neighborhood restaurants where the owners are friendly and the food is good. Hawwi is exactly that kind of place. All the food is yummy, so I won't bother making singular recommendations. Just go and enjoy yourselves.
A hidden gem in Old Town Alexandria Virginia. The food was delicious and the service was great. I felt like I was amongst friends. I had the vegan sampler and the spinach sambusa. My friend (first time eating Ethiopian food) had the chicken sampler and lentil sambusa. She also enjoyed the food .We both had the homemade hot ginger tea. It was very soothing and tasty. You can definitely taste the authenticity. I will be back again and again.
I’m an Ethiopian and I went to this restaurant with a family member. We were in Old town and we saw this place had good reviews. As soon as we entered, we got mean look from the lady which I believe is the owner. No greetings or hi even though the place was empty and we were the only ones there. She gave us the menu and we ordered. Still very little talk from the owner which we didn’t mind. Once we got our food and started eating she suddenly came towards our table and started talking about the COVID vaccine. She wouldn’t not let us and kept talking non-stop about the vaccine. She even mentioned she got diarrhea from the vaccine WHILE we were eating. We couldn’t even eat our meal and we stopped after that. EXTREMELY DISGUSTING THING TO TALK ABOUT WHILE PEOPLE ARE EATING.nnAlso if you are Ethiopian please don’t waste your money. The food is mediocre and the tibs was very OILY.nnGo at your own risk!
