5 star steaks, 3 star burger so I landed on a 4. Friendly service, nice restaurant, better steak house than any in the surrounding area. Steak was cooked exactly as requested and had a unique char on the outside which gave it more flavor depth and texture to a steak I hadn’t had before now. Think burnt ends on a brisket. Smoky and still juicy. Portions for side dishes were perfect amount. As for burger, the bun was a complete flop. Almost asked to order something different since it was nearly like the bread had either sat out or was over cooked so it was brittle and stale. The beef and toppings were outstanding though, could have been a home-run with this had the bun been better. Been here 2 times, plan on definitely going back.
First off reserved a table for 8:15pm got to the location exactly at 8:15pm and had to wait behind 2 other parties for another 30 minutes. Did not get seated until 9pm. The appetizers are sub par. The chefs should use more seasoning in their meals or at least a little dash of salt. Ordered the most expensive steaks on the menu $93+ and when we finally received them they were burnt to a crisp. I had to send them back. Not a fan of the food, the waiting staff was great they had great customer service along with the Manager on duty. I do have one complaint about a waiter (not my waiter) who was just hanging around playing in his hair while he waited to serve his tables, I would think he would know better than playing with his hair during this climate, or the fact that it is unhealthy to touch ones hair then to serve food. Not a good experience, I paid for my meal and tipped my waiter as it was not his fault. They did provide us with new steaks, and I would say they were better cuts of meat, however I was surprised they still had me pay full price for my meal, not one item was comped, at least they could have covered my drinks. I wont be returning back here, the food was bland.
We went to dinner about a week ago with another couple and we had a lovely experience. From the moment we sat down our server Conner expertly guided us through the meal and the menu. The service and courses were timed well. We split two appetizers and the warm Bread Service was worth the extra money. The bar produced cold beers and delicious cocktails. My personal favorite was their take on a dirty vodka martini with pimento cheese stuffed olives. We ordered two filets and the 60 day 22oz porterhouse steak for two. Everyone enjoyed their entrees. We each ordered a side and we decided the mushrooms and brussel sprouts were our favorite options at the table. It may have been the two bottles of wine but we also ordered a sampling of the desserts. We all agreed the deconstructed strawberry basil shortcake was our favorite. I am very happy with the newest restaurant addition to Old Town Alexandria. We will be back to Oak Steakhouse.
Beautiful restaurant; filet was cooked perfectly. I wish they had lobster to add on but I got king crab instead. Although delicious, I thought $30 was a little steep for what I got. Our server, Catherine, did an excellent job.nP.S. the spinach was the best.
This place is excellent. Great atmosphere. The food is superb, and the service is fantastic. Great steakhouse if you want to avoid heading into DC. Will definitely be coming back.nnThe steak frites, the oysters, the fried burrata, and baby salad wedge – all delicious.nnThere’s probably nothing on the menu that’s terrible. Highly recommend going, and they have outdoor seating—perfect spot as the weather gets warmer.
