Decent supermarket with the standard verity plus local flavors. Dark store and scarce assistance. I always feel a little claustrophobic - but that just me... My wife seems to navigate the store with ease.n***nNew store update -nThe new store is larger, brighter, better staffed and better supplied. Love the organic produce section and the better variety of gluten free and dairy free products. A better and more pleasant experience. Our go-to supermarket in Kona.

The new Safeway is a HUGE improvement. The new deli is spectacular, and their new poke bowl counter makes WONDERFUL made-to-order poke just how you like it (though limited protein options).nnThe store layout is a little confusing and it can be hard to find some things, but selection is pretty good.nnThe beer aisle is about 40% hard seltzer, which is a big disappointment to me personally, because it limits available space for more beer options.nnI've had hit-and-miss interactions with employees - some are absolutely wonderful and some you can tell are just trying to get through their 8 hours.

I was at Safeway today and I had the sweetest checkout girl. She was so welcoming and sweet and and when I mentioned I had forgotten my SOS pads, she actually ran and grabbed them for me!nI gotta say, that was so unexpected and one of the sweetest thing anyone has done for me in a while and I kinda needed that today. Thanks Anna Rose!!!

Brand new store, so it modern, clean, and spacious. The prices are reasonable, the staff is helpful & friendly, and the selection is great, particularly the produce...nnIf you are in the area, it a great choice for your shopping needs...
