Pine Tree Cafe

Pretty good. Wide selection on menu. Well known by locals. Restaurant had a line waiting to place take out and dine in orders. Subway restaurant in the same plaza was empty.

Pine tree Cafe is one of the best restaurants we've ever been to. If you're visiting Kona I wouldn't miss stopping here. The fried poke omlette for breakfast was so good that we ended up eating it every day of our visit. I would say it was our favorite dish but every dish that we tried was better than the last. Needless to say, we got 4 fried poke bowls (for 2 people) for the flight back home. And, of course, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.

Hole-in-the-wall type place with large portions of tasty food at reasonable prices. Surprisingly extensive menu. I got one of their most popular items—spicy garlic chicken—and enjoyed it. Was nervous it might be too spicy for me, but it was hardly spicy at all. Very flavorful. My wife got the Oriental Somen salad. Big salad with lots of substance. I tasted the teriyaki chicken on top and thought it was great. Flavorful and moist. Would go back. If you’re looking for a relatively quick and filling meal, you’ll be pleased.

We ordered the daily special which was the Loco Moco (taste similar to a Salisbury Steak), with an egg top. The meal was ok just overly salty,and the rice was pretty bland....Nothing to brag about or warrant a return trip. Next time I am on the island I wouldn’t mind returning to the Pine Tree cafe but I would definitely order a different meal.

Excellent service always, great food, great prices, and great portions. The staff have always been super friendly, they value their customers and the energy of the place feels like Ohana. Disregarding the fact that every restaurant has ups and downs, I’m always satisfied here, highly recommend
