Interesting article and pictures left by someone on the picnic table by the monument. Worth a stop if you have time. Checked it off my bucket list finally after passing it many times.

Nice little roadside rest with some a plaque and a laminated newspaper article about Tom Mix, the rodeo star turned movie star, who died nearby

Most of what is there is laminated newspaper articles sitting on a picnic table, weighed down with rocks. My wife recalls listening to Tom Mix radio shows under her blankets with a transistor radio. So it was still good to stop.

Just a quick stop in the road with a wayside rest and a memorial to Tom Mix. This is the location where he crashed and passed away in 1940

Tom Mix was a cowboy movie star.. He visited Tucson area often, as he had many friends who lived here. He spent his last evening with friends smoking cigars and chatting on a porch. He was headed back home when his car crashed. I am glad that Pinal county has set this area aside for a memorial.
