Enjoying the walks on this trail. It's 73 miles long! Plummer is the start. There are maps of the Trail available, bathrooms (not opened this time of year) good parking, this section goes through housing for aways. Partly frozen stream flowing through grasses. Sound of the water flowing was very peaceful. Very cold when we walked this section so didn't walk along ways.
We shuttled from Harrison to Wallace and looped back a little to do a 100 mile ride. The trail is smooth and well maintained. Great views the whole way. We saw moose, deer, and bald eagles. Highly recommend.
What an amazing trail! We biked several miles on it and had a fantastic time! We didn’t see any other people the entire time and it felt really remote the further we went on. It was a great time to get out of the car and get several miles of biking in I highly suggest doing this trail! Lots of paved area felt very safe and all the locals at the start of the trail we’re really really friendly! Nice park at the beginning if you just want to stop and see the start of the trail. It was super smoky when we did it in mid September 2020, but it’s probably normally super clear!
If you want a beautiful walking, running, biking, or strolling trail then this one is great. Biking from the trail head in Plummer, Idaho to Harrison, Idaho takes about 1 hour 15 min on a road bike. 16 miles one way. That's not pushing it. Stopping a few times, taking pics along the way. Also depending on weather. Mountain bike can be slower.nWe went early in the morning. Trail is quiet but watch for deer. Mostly downhill the first half. Once you go up and over the bridge across the lake it's very flat along the trail. Many bathrooms to stop at. Also parking if you want to start farther down the trail. Gorgeous views and well maintained.nThe trail goes past Harrison so you could make a full day. Stop in Harrison and get ice cream, swim at the public beach or just keep riding. No motorized vehicles allowed on the trail. So enjoy being outside.
Harrison - Plummer - about 30 miles round trip, worth the effort with services on both ends of the trip, can be done on a rental bikennHarrison - Cataldo - about 50 miles round trip, best done on a good road bike or an electric bike, is a little more tedious and at times not as interesting, but worth the visit to the Old Mission if going from Harrison, or vice versa.nnBring lots of water. Restrooms are available every 5 or so miles.
